"ABOUT ME"

  • It is claimed that book cannot be judged based on how it appears. It is because it may contain more than you know. The same is true with artists who are made up of more than their physical appearance and talent. Mr. Y. Ruiz is a compilation of talents, hereditary traits, and something you tend to hear very little about when it comes to an artist’s life experiences. Mr. Y.Ruiz has always had a penchant for painting even from a young age, an attribute shared by his mother. Born in Cuba, Mr. Y.Ruiz was 27 years when he immigrated to the USA in 2012 not only to escape hard economic hardships in his country of birth but to also be able to start his career as a painting artist. While in USA, Mr. Y.Ruiz started painting images of interesting faces, people, and objects across multiple states, canvases, and media to tell their stories and explore cultural and lifestyle concept and position of objects in the environment where they are situated. The paintings that Mr. Y.Ruiz  has so far produced convey authentic stories and experiences that connect with a wide range of audiences, drive engagement around visual storytelling, and explore the numerous possibilities of visual portraits of people, animals, plants and objects within a given socio-cultural and geographical context to understand complex history of their existence and amplify the messages wrapped around the stories. As a Christian that believes in God, Mr. Y.Ruiz has great conviction that success comes to those who will and dare. He believes that people should educate themselves in the field that they are interested in even if they don’t know where to start or even when they do not get the help that they need. Mr. Y.Ruiz believes that in the whole process of pursuing his career goals, he has both lost and gained but the most valuable lesson he has learned is that artists should not take things personal if their career progression does not follow a path that they expected. He believes that artists should not loss hope simply because they have not been supported as a significant number of people will not understand the challenges they face. Mr. Y.Ruiz  believes that as long as there is an idea, passion, and strong will to succeed, then there nothing that can stop an artist to achieve his or her career goals.
